On Friday June 8th 2018 I had my very first (of MANY GOD WILLING) Book Signing events. My book "Tales of a Mother Dreams of a Son" was well received by the audience. I was fortunate enough to have Mickey of Upscale 3 Entertainment to help host the event.
My executive assistant Kimberly was working the room like a true hustler. The woman aint no joke!
I gave a brief introduction about the book and its journey from midnight thoughts of love to tear stained pillows of the past 8 years. We had a short Q & A session that then lead into a phenomenal reading of two pieces done by the ever amazing Rick Austin who read with pure charm, conviction and passion. A true honor to have him bless the mic.
Each guest who purchased a book received one that was personally noted not just signed but a special message, a bookmark created by yours truly and a business card to keep in touch. We can never have too many besties on the blog. We ended the event with a raffle of a gift basket, 2 wine glasses, a bottle of wine, large candle and of course my book. To everyone's surprise our co-host Mickey won the basket. The look on his face when he realized it was his number was priceless.
My girl Vickie took the initiative to Go Live for me during this event which was a HUGE blessing in disguise. I am so blessed, grateful and overwhelmed by the countless people who showed up for this event. In fact two beautiful women showed up from just seeing post on instagram. WHO KNEW? This is confirmation that I am tiptoeing into my purpose. #Grateful
THANK YOU ALL who helped make this event a success. Thank you to all who have supported me on this journey. Thank you ALL for helping me fulfill a promise I once made to my Mother Viola Patterson who is smiling down from HEAVEN. We miss you VLOQQ
Yes that is right I am soon to be *as in within the next 72 hours a published Author. My book titled "Tales of a Mother Dreams of a Son" screams of loneliness, heartache and love.
On a quest to define love I have experienced many versions of love. This book is a journey...my journey to define love.
While writing this book over the past few years I realized the different ways that love can be expressed. The key in my opinion is to be open, honest , completely transparent and consistent.
THE LOVE TOOL BOX
Everyone shows their love differently and sometimes we dont recognize their efforts or words as ..Love. For instance if my man washes my car my thought is ok he did his "job". Thankful? Yes! In my mind I do the dishes he washes the cars. Its just part of the job. However I just may not understand that to him he is loving me up and beyond by washing the car, fixing a light bulb etc. I was not hearing his love.
If you haven't read the book
"The 5 love languages" written by New York Times Bestselling Author Gary Chapman. Do yourself a favor and your relationship a favor by getting it, reading it, writing notes and putting that knowledge to use. I read that book around the same time I was contemplating writing my book. I could now clearly see my mistakes and also how I tolerated things far longer than I should have.
TALES OF A MOTHER DREAMS OF A SON
My journey unfortunately was filled with more tears, fears than love. In my book Tales of a Mother Dreams of a Son I pour out all of those in the moment emotions onto every page. Well, almost every page. I asked two of my sons what they thought about love. Their answer......Book coming to bookstores, online re-sellers , Amazon and kindle. Stay tuned.
MOM I DID IT! PROMISE FULFILLED

Fall of 2016 there I was at the ripe age of 46 in n introduction to script writing class. There was something about the way the classroom was sectioned that reminded me of the hit Broadway show and movie A Chorus Line. That class reminded me how much I love to write.
Spring forward a new semester and I was asked to be apart of The infamous Vagina Monologue being read at my college. Not just any college it is also home of The Western Stage Theater. In grade school I was a dancer, middle school I was a dancer bur in high school I was a cheerleader. But never did I ever have to talk, speak or act.
There I was dead center literally surrounded by the piercing eyes of the audience which included co-worker, staff and yep my adult son. I was literally shaking in my boots! Then the absolute worst thing happened. while I was reading my lines....see if you can figure it out from this video click the link The Angry Vacgina.... HEY if you can't laugh at yourself you will never be comfortable in your own skin. I say nor bad for someone who lives behind a laptop.
